5 Things You Should Know about E-mail Ettiquette:
- TURN OFF THE CAPS LOCK!
- Turn off the background/border. Everytime you send me one of those I have to
store another copy of the picture on my hard drive (or just delete your message).
- Don't use HTML formatting in your mail. The greeting which looks like
on your screen can look like <FONT SIZE="4"
type="Nuptial BT" COLOR="RED"><STRONG>Hi
There</STRONG></FONT> to the recipient. Trust me on this, it
doesn't have the effect you intended.
- Don't send me an attachment without including in the body of the text the name
of the file and the reason I should open it. E-mail viruses spread almost
exclusively through attachments and only the imprudent open attachments without a
darn good reason.
- Don't assume that the recipient of your message has all of the same programs
that you do. I can't count the number of times frustrated clients have called me to
get attachments converted into something that they can use.
